2.   OLD BUSINESS:

None

3.   NEW BUSINES

A.                 Funding Proposals:

The Board has received two requests for funding, one from the Graphic Arts Department and one from the Performing Arts Department.  After some discussion, it was decided that the Distribution Committee should make a proposal to the Board as to how the Foundation should select the next project to fund.

B.                 Next Fundraiser:

A discussion was held regarding the timing of our fundraising activity, as well as what the next fundraising activity should be.  One suggestion was the revival of the “Battle of the Bands”, while another was a “Second Chance Prom”.  It was decided that the Fundraising Committee should prepare a proposal for the next Foundation fundraiser for the Board’s consideration and approval.

            C.        Expanding participation:

It was decided that the Foundation should attempt to keep donors informed of the activities of the Foundation.  It was suggested that individual e-mail addresses should be loaded and stored in a central data base for use for this purpose.  David will check to see if the web server will allow large e-mailouts.  It was also suggested that a mini newsletter be posted on the web.  Perhaps Baron can be approached to take on this task.

            D.        Alumni Association:

Barbara Hashimoto explained the Alumni Association’s role in providing 4 $1,000 scholarships to Kaimiki High School graduating seniors and 4 $50.00 Spirit Awards (one per grade level).  She also announced the Association’s annual fundraiser, which will be held on March 6, 2004 at the KHS Auditorium, entitled “The Melody Lingers”.

4.   REMINDERS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

A.                 David needs contents for the web page.  Please submit to him directly.

B.                 On February 18, 2004, there will be a congressional hearing held at the Kaimuki High School.  It will be a good opportunity to talk to our congressional delegates about the needs of Kaimuki High School.  Board members will try to attend.

C.        The PTA is short approximately $7,000 for its project graduation this year.  It will continue to try to raise money for this event.

5.   NEXT MEETING

Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
