KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION MEETING

July 8, 2003

Meeting was called to order by President Steve Nakashima at 6:15 p.m.

1.     MEETING MINUTES:

            The minutes of the February 25, 2003 meeting was reviewed.  It was moved and seconded that the minutes of the meeting of February 25, 2003 be approved as submitted.  Motion carried unanimously.  The minutes of the May 13, 2003 meeting was also reviewed.  It was moved and seconded that the minutes of the meeting of May 13, 2003 be approved as submitted.  Motion carried unanimously. 

2.     COMMITTEE REPORTS:

PUBLICITY/PUBLIC AWARNESS COMMITTEE:

            Marian Chun passed out a draft of a flyer to be distributed at the upcoming alumni golf tournament.  It will be edited to reduce redundant material.  It was suggested that corrections be e-mailed to Anne Torige.  It was also suggested that the Foundation acknowledge Lori Tanaka, summer school librarian from Kahuku, for her assistance with laying out of the flyer. 

3.     OLD BUSINESS:

            A.        COMPUTER PROJECT:

            Dennis reported that the school will find the money to acquire the required air conditioners. 

            B.        DISPLAY CASE:

            The Alumni Association will donate $650.00 towards the cost of the glass for the display cases.  Steve will attend the Alumni Association dinner meeting on July 20, and will thank the Association for its assistance.  Bill Shimomura of Bowker Glass should be acknowledged by the Foundation for providing the glass at an inexpensive rate

            A concern was raised about the safety of the glass.  Mike will check with Bowker Glass to determine whether the glass is laminated to prevent shattering.

            Dedication of the cases will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2003.  It is not clear whether Stew Medeiros will be able to attend.

            C.        NEXT FUNDRAISING PROJECT

            The next fundraising project date will be January 11, 2004.  At the next meeting, we will discuss suggestions for future fundraising activities, including a fundraiser scheduled to be held in April at the Waikiki Shell, organized by Calvin Say.

4.     NEXT MEETING

            The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at 6:00 p.m.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
